Bottega Veneta is a brand that was founded in Vicenza in 1967 by Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro. From the early 80s Bottega Veneta became one of the favourite brands of the international jet set, including Andy Warhol, who will make a short film for Bottega Veneta.
When the company was acquired by Gucci Group in 2011, Tomas Maier, who previously was part of the creative entourage of Sonia Rykiel and Hermés, was appointed Creative Director. Under his guidance, the brand identity returned to the original identity, removing any visible logos from the products, enhancing the woven leather processing, a hallmark of Bottega Veneta, and refocusing the whole activity on craftsmanship.
In the following years Bottega Veneta introduced new product categories: fine jewellery, eyewear, home fragrances and furnishings, while continuing to offer a wide range of handbags, shoes, small leather goods, luggage, household items and gifts. Bottega Veneta presented its first women's prêt-à-porter fashion show in February 2005 and the men's one in June 2006.
